2020 Street Reconstruction (C.P. 20-02)

Update 4/27/20: Tree clearing has been completed.  Erosion control installation has begun.  Grading and reclamation of the existing roadway will begin this week.  The project will be constructed in two phases, with the south half of the project happening first. Some work will likely be taking place in both phases at the same time.  Intermittent road closures will be necessary for storm sewer construction.  Impacted residents will be notified in advance via letters.

Each year the roadway segments that are in the most need of repair throughout the City are reconstructed as a portion of the City of Andover’s street reconstruction program.  This project is identified in the City’s Capital Improvement Plan.  Scheduled for reconstruction in 2020 are the following streets generally southeast of Valley Drive, north of 157th Avenue and west of Xenia Street: Genie Drive, North Enchanted Drive, South Enchanted Drive, Aztec Street and 158th Avenue (see attached location map) .

The project will consist of reclaiming the existing bituminous roadway, shaping the existing gravel, constructing concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer / culvert replacements and improvements, and constructing a new bituminous surface.

The project will be funded from the City’s Road & Bridge Fund, with 25% of the total project costs for the improvements assessed to the benefiting properties as identified in the City’s Roadway Reconstruction Assessment Policy.

North Valley, Inc. was the low bidder for the project and awarded the contract.  We anticipate that construction will begin in late April, with the project being completed by the end of summer. A mailing will be sent out to impacted residents prior to the beginning of construction providing additional information.
